Heavenly Father
I long for peace and joy
An escape from the struggles of life
From friction with other people
From battles with temptation
From the uphill toil of everyday
Thank you Lord
Thank you that the day will come
When the battle is brought to an end
The enemy silenced
The victory declared
The peace established.
And until that day
Keep me close Lord
Close to the Shepherd of my soul
Close under the wings of your presence
Close to Jesus, my Lord and my Saviour
Who did not shrink from the battle
But drank of the cup for our sakes
And won the victory of victories
For all time and for all eternity.
