Lord God Almighty
Father to the fatherless
Defender of the widows
Who fed the hungry
Washed the feet of his followers
Met the needy and the sick at their point of need
Help your people to be
Passionate in our search for you
And radical in our caring for others.
Save us from being
Too heavenly minded
To be any earthly use.
Take our weak and wavering faith
Combine it with your loving mercy
And help us to bless all those who struggle.
Open our hearts
And open our purse strings
So that having freely received from you
We will freely give to others
Freely being the people you have called us to be.
