Heavenly Father
In obedience Joseph travelled to Bethlehem
An inconvenient journey
With no personal benefit to himself
But required by the authorities
So that they could demand more tax from him.
And so he obeyed and he went
And in his obedience
Your will was achieved
The prophecy was fulfilled
Lord, help me to understand
That some days obedience to your will
Serving the purposes of the Living God
Means living well, within the law,
In keeping with your commands
And at peace with others
Let me live well today Lord
For your glory.
