Lord Jesus Christ
Our Good Shepherd
Who comprehends the ways of our hearts
Better than we understand ourselves
I confess my wandering from your ways
The ease with which I choose my own path
My tendency to resist your guidance
And the misguided preference for my own ideas.
I praise you, Lord,
For the history of salvation
For the stories of you reaching out
Rescuing your people
Searching out the wanderers
And bringing them back to your presence
To follow once more the path that you have prepared
Almighty God
We have lost our way
Your path seems so distant and strange to many in these days
Come and find us again
Come and save this world for which our Saviour died
Come and shine your light into the darkness of confusion
May your light lead us back to the truth
And to the foot of the cross.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
